My Review:

4 out of 5 STARS

I received this book from the author, in exchange for an honest review.

Sometimes I forget how much I enjoy Paranormal novels. This Young Adult story based on Fae reminded me. I have been focusing mostly on NA Contemporary Romance lately, and it was nice to mix it up a bit with “The Forgotten Ones.” I have been looking forward to reading this book by Laura Howard for a while now, so I am excited I finally did. I will definitely be following the trilogy to this 4 STAR novel!

Allison, the main character, lives in her regular world, with her pretty ordinary problems. She has a mother suffering from schizophrenia, boy problems with the town player, and a cousin with completely different interests and friends than her. On top of these basic issues, she is completely oblivious to the magical world surrounding her life...until one day a knock on the door changes everything. Join Allison on her adventure into a magical world to save the people she cares about, and try and stop the evil responsible for the danger encompassing her and her loved ones.

As I said, I enjoyed this book. I will say that I wish I saw more of Allison and Ethan, but knowing that this is a trilogy, I am sure I will be seeing more of where their relationship goes. I was routing for Ethan the entire story, something about him just made me want Allison to be with him. Even though he was a lady’s man and was portrayed to be a player...it was just obvious that he would much rather have Allison than all those other girls. Every time he asked Allison out, although sometimes he tried to turn it into a joke, I just wanted her to say yes! Unfortunately, Allison lives a complicated life trying to care for her sick mother and she doesn’t exactly have the time to date.

I  loved Laura Howard’s use of imagery throughout the novel. She took the perfect amount of time in describing the magical world of Tir na n ‘Og. I could immediately see exactly what she wanted me to see, and I felt like I was there. Ms. Howard described everything with the perfect words at the perfect times. It was quite impressive!

I am curious as to where this trilogy will take us with the Danaan. With the cliffhanger at the end, I’m definitely anticipating the next book to see what happens. I would recommend this 4 STAR book to fans of Young Adult books and the Paranormal/Urban Fantasy genre...specifically for those who enjoy Fae. If you are looking for your next read, give Laura Howard a chance! You better at least get her on your to-be-read list!

Happy Reading!

About the Author:

Laura Howard lives in New Hampshire with her husband and four children. Her obsession with books began at the age of 6 when she got her first library card. Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley High and other girly novels were routinely devoured in single sittings. Books took a backseat to diapers when she had her first child. It wasn’t until the release of a little novel called Twilight, 8 years later, that she rediscovered her love of fiction. Soon after, her own characters began to make themselves known. The Forgotten Ones is her first published novel.
