"Jet"

Series: A Marked Men Novel #2
Author:  Jay Crownover
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date:  May 28, 2013
Event organized by: Literati Literature Lovers

Synopsis:
With his tight leather pants and a sharp edge that makes him dangerous, Jet Keller is every girl’s rock and roll fantasy. But Ayden Cross is done walking on the wild side with bad boys. She doesn’t want to give in to the heat she sees in Jet’s dark, haunted eyes. She’s afraid of getting burned from the sparks of their spontaneous combustion, even as his touch sets her on fire.

Jet can’t resist the Southern Belle with mile-long legs in cowboy boots who defies his every expectation. Yet the closer he feels to Ayden, the less he seems to know her. While he’s tempted to get under her skin and undo her in every way, he knows firsthand what happens to two people with very different ideas about relationships.

Will the blaze burn into an enduring love. . . or will it consume their dreams and turn them to ashes?

Did the locations mentioned in Jet influence your writing?
I try really hard to only write about places I have been or places that I know intimately.  I do it for accuracy and because I want to do my hometown proud.  Places like the tattoo shop are takes on actual shops I frequent or have spent time in, but there is no “The Marked” on Capitol Hill.
The Goal Line is a riff on every sports bar I have ever worked in or run, and there are a hundred versions of this bar in LoDo but not THIS bar specifically.  As with everything I write, I want it to feel real, to feel tangible. So I take it as a compliment whenever I get an email asking me if these places are real….that’s awesome.
Like Brookside is a road where I live in the Springs, but it’s supposed to represent Evergreen just outside of Denver, at least in my head that’s what I was seeing.  There are a lot of tiny, well to-do towns just outside the city that I wanted Brookside to be representative of and interchangeable with.
I went to school (Metro State) in downtown Denver when I was in my early twenties and late teens.  I had a lot of fun, got into a lot of trouble, met some seriously awesome people, and made choices, both good and bad, that got me to the point I am now at in my life.  I think that’s one of the reasons I picked NA and set D-town as the backdrop.  I see a lot of my history and past play out in subtext in what I write.
I also love football and love my Broncos, so I had to set the stories in a place where I could drop sports references to my hometown team!!  Denver also has changing seasons which I think helps move the story forward and helps indicate the passage of time.  There is also a huge music scene here, so I knew that planning Jet’s story I was going to need that aspect to make his story flow.
I have a lot of hometown pride, I love Colorado, love Denver, and The Springs…it’s just as interesting to life here as it is to live in any other part of the country and our air quality is way better!!!  Lol
