SYNOPSIS
via Goodreads:

In the follow-up to Colleen Hoover’s #1 New York Times bestseller Hopeless, the charming and irresistible Dean Holder tells the passionate story that has melted thousands of hearts.

In Hopeless, Sky left no secret unearthed, no feeling unshared, and no memory forgotten, but Holder’s past remained a mystery.

Still haunted by the little girl he let walk away, Holder has spent his entire life searching for her in an attempt to finally rid himself of the crushing guilt he has felt for years. But he could not have anticipated that the moment they reconnect, even greater remorse would overwhelm him…

Sometimes in life, if we wish to move forward, we must first dig deep into our past and make amends. In Losing Hope, bestselling author Colleen Hoover reveals what was going on inside Holder’s head during all those hopeless moments—and whether he can gain the peace he desperately needs.

MY REVIEW:

“Losing Hope” by Colleen Hoover

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

If you have ever talked to me about books, you know how much I love Colleen Hoover’s work. She is a pure literary genius. She can take the most simple words and turn them into a story of gold. I highlighted so many sentences within this book on my iPad just because I wanted to remember them forever. I’m not going to put them into this review, because then I would end up rewriting her whole book. Obviously I’m not going to do that, haha. It was just amazing, beautiful, clever, daring, exciting, fascinating, good, HOLDER, incredible...okay you get the picture. I just want to label this book with a million positive words. The point is, this entire book was beyond fabulous. I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking for a good book. Definite 1000 STARS. Okay, 10 STARS? Alright, alright, fine! But only for the sake of rating this book properly on websites will I give it 5 STARS okay? It deserves so much more than that!

I fell in love with Holder and Sky in “Hopeless” - I truly loved that book. I still do. I almost reread it before reading “Losing Hope” but I decided that I wanted book two to be as new as possible. “Losing Hope” is the companion novel to “Hopeless.” It is told in Holder’s point of view. However, do not assume that this book is just going to be his side of the story...it is so much more than that. This book is the story of Holder’s life. We see so much more about him, his family, and his friends that we never got to see in book one. And yes, we did get to see his side of Sky’s story...and I loved that. I loved being able to finally know what was really going on in his head when he was with sky. Knowing what was going through his mind during the best first non-kiss was fun. We also got to see what he went through in the rough times too. We got to live his life and feel his pain. It was heartbreaking.

I loved being inside Holder’s head. The heartbreak, suffering, and pure guilt that he was racked with was just torturous. I hurt for him. But all the happiness he was able to experience made me smile for him. I lived through his emotions throughout the book. And I loved it.

“Losing Hope” is a book that you want to read for yourself. I don’t want to ruin this story (of the first book) for anyone. Those of you who read “Hopeless” already know what happens in the story, but you get to see many more scenes that we never got to see in book one. So I don’t want to give anything away to you guys either! You can still read “Losing Hope” without reading “Hopeless” first...but I would recommend reading them in the order that Colleen Hoover wrote it. “Hopeless” goes into more detail of some things and “Losing Hope” goes into more detail of other things. Either way, make sure you read them both to get the full effect. These are two books that everyone should read.

Even though I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC through NetGalley of this book, I am still absolutely going to buy it. I own print (and digital) copies of every Colleen Hoover book. I am anxiously awaiting a print copy of “Losing Hope” to put on my bookshelf right next to “Hopeless.”
So go out and get yourself a copy of “LOSING HOPE” by COLLEEN HOOVER as soon as you are able to. You will not regret it! And if you have not bought “HOPELESS” yet either, then you need to make sure you get that. Both of these books are 1000 STARS...oh wait, yeah 5 STARS. =)

OH! And...the cover is hot!

Happy Reading!

  1. I absolutely LIVE Sky & Holder. Just by the book cover this book pulls you in. This story is just PHENOMENAL!!! Few books make you feel an explosion of emotions. I had the biggest book hangover after reading Hopeless.

I can't wait to read this beautiful story again with Holder's POV.

It's in my Top 10 favorite books ever!

    Awesome reviews!

  3. I dunno if you picked the winner already but can I also rant?

Can I also give it 1000 stars?! I enjoyed your review and I live both Holder and Hope/Sky! It's awesome to know about them, especially to know more about Holder because he lives in angst. And to know how things revovled around him and to feel him. It was pure, real and enthralling.
