Book Description:
Two words sum up my summer in paradise: Evan Ashford.

I have a life back home I must return to, though my heart battles this reality. What started as a carefree summer fling has become so much more. Evan has become so much more. He’s become everything. Cupping his face, I stare into his deep blue eyes, wanting to lose myself once more... needing to know he feels this too.

Although our connection won’t stop the summer’s end from rushing toward us or silence the demons Evan battles, I have faith our love can overcome the obstacles that will undoubtedly arise from us choosing to be together. I still worry… Will our good intentions be good enough? But I’m all in, willing to take the risk, knowing he can destroy my heart if I’m wrong.

Like a riptide, I was forever changed by one woman: Mallory Wray.
Our eyes meet and we spend a moment looking into the others’, reading the fear and the love that mingles within. I move slowly down and kiss her forehead, her nose, her eyelids, her cheeks, and her chin before I kiss her lips again—soft and gentle, not rushed, but sensual. She smiles and I die inside knowing that I won’t get to see her face every day. I’ve been spoiled by this sweet angel giving me all her days and nights. I possessively take hold of her wrists and like so many times before, the air stills as our connection intensifies. I can’t help myself when it comes to her.

I kiss her.
Rain pours down harder and I wrap my arms around her, engulfing her body, her love, her soul.

Interview:
with Author S.L. Scott

  • When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
When I was young, writing was something I enjoyed. I wrote little books with bad crayon illustrations. I would design my construction paper cover making sure the paper color fit the story. I moved onto poetry and loved reading. My English class senior year in high school changed everything. The teacher was tough, but I loved everything I learned and enjoyed his passion for books. That’s when writing became a focus for me to pursue.

  • Do you have a routine that you use to get into the right frame of mind to write?
Music is my idea-feeding addiction. If a song comes on and inspires me, I’ll listen to it thirty times in a row until the plot of the story and the characters are developed in my mind. I’ll go back and play that song to get my mindset right when I start writing.

  • Where do you get your ideas or inspiration for your characters?
Music has to be the thing that has inspired me the most. Characters developed either at the same time as the story concept or even before. I start to feel them in my heart, head, and body. Their emotions become mine. I’ve had a line come to me that developed a whole character for me before too. I love characters to develop organically, not be forced to play a role.

  • What books have most influenced your life?

This will be such a boring answer, but some mainstream classics and new classics like Catcher in the Rye, Pride & Prejudice, and The Twilight Saga. I love all of those and they have made me see writing in a new way, inspired me, and I just loved the emotions each of these evoked in me.

  • What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I like to cook, but I hate the dishes. I love to travel. Movies are my favorite date night. Seeing live music with my besties is always a blast. I do live in Austin – The Live Music Capital of The World, so it would be a crime not to enjoy all the options we get.

  • Any future writing news you would like to share?
Yes, Book 3 in the Welcome to Paradise series is being written and edited and I’m hoping to have it out by the end of the year. I’m so excited about this series and sharing these characters journey with readers. It’s been such a pleasure to have them embraced by readers. It’s truly been an honor.
