GIVEAWAY/INDIE-CREDIBLE: Sarah M. Ross

*Rafflecopter Giveaway at the Bottom!*

*Welcome*
to the
INDIE-CREDIBLE Author Event
Starring
SARAH ROSS!!

*I love indie authors! It's so hard to believe that a little less than two years ago, I didn't even know what an 'indie' author was! Now, I'm in the process of becoming and indie author myself, and it's pretty much all I read! I still do read traditionally published authors (I love everyone!) but the majority of the traditionally  pubbed writers started out Indie! I love how personal indie authors can be - it's amazing how simple it is to contact them through e-mail and social media! Sarah Ross is one of the indie-credible authors I'm talking about! She is an amazing writer and such a nice person! It's obvious she loves her readers and fans, and always makes time for them! Check out the rest of this blog post to learn more about her and her books! I had the chance to interview her, and you'll find our Q&A towards the end. ALSO! at the very end, you'll find a great giveaway!! So, Enjoy!*

Who is Sarah Ross?

Sarah started her obsession with reading at an early age, often sneaking BabySitter Club and Nancy Drew books into math class. She would read any book she could get her hands on. Her love of reading quickly evolved into a love of writing and stories began to pour out of her.

She grew up in Pittsburgh, graduated from The University of Pittsburgh with a degree in English, and taught 8th graders to love reading as much as she does for several years. Sarah will always be a proud member of the Steelers' Nation, but couldn't take the cold and moved her frozen tush to Florida where she now lives with her family and two cats. You will find her now with her trusty Kindle in hand and toes in the sand!

Sarah's debut novel, AWAKEN, released in January, 2012. Other novels include AVENGE, ATONE, ECHO OF AN EARTH ANGEL, and INHALE EXHALE.

Self-Publishing Questions:
  1. What do you love most about self-publishing?
I am a control freak. I like a plan, to have the ability to control that plan, and self-publishing allows me the ability to control all aspects of my novel. I choose the cover, the title, what gets edited out, when I release, and so much more. I think that if I were with a big publisher, that would be the hardest thing to give up!
  1. Four Self-published authors you look up to.
I really look up to 1) Jennifer Armentrout, 2) Abbi Glines, 3) Amanda Hawking, and 4) anyone who’s ever had the courage to do it!

For me, Jennifer, and Abbi are what I inspire to be. They are hybrid authors, but self pubbed and traditionally pubbed. They have the best of both worlds, and I would love to follow in those footsteps!

Amanda is a pioneer in the self-pubbing industry, and she paved the way for all of us to be where we are. Her courage to stand up and go for it when it was still soo taboo is inspiring!

Book/Blogging/Social Media Questions:

  1. What’s your favorite social media outlet for marketing/promotions?

Facebook! I have a hard time limiting myself to 140 characters, so Twitter just doesn’t do it for me. I love the ease of which my FB fans can like and comment, share, and keep up to date with whatever I’m doing. I find myself on FB way more than I should be, but for me, it’s my favorite way to communicate with my fans!

  1. Share 3 blogs you love to read.

There are soo many amazing blogs out there today, it’s hard to limit it to just three. I love to browse several each day, just checking out new releases, or awesome giveaways. Teaser Tuesdays are a favorite of mine—I love seeing what’s in store from my favorite authors.
Some blogs that I find myself weekly are I Read Indie, Mundie Moms, Books Over Boys, IHeartBigBooks, and—of course—Brianna Lee’s Book Reviews!!  There are a lot more that I adore, but I would be here all day listing my favorite blogs! LOL

Random/Fun/Book Questions:
  1. If someone gave you a free plane ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Oh! I would go to so, so many places. I travelled a lot in college (I did a study abroad program called Semester at Sea, visiting ten countries in five months), and that trip totally solidified the travel bug in me. I think if I could only pick one, I’d pick Bora Bora, because I know it’s a place I would love to visit, but the reality of affording that trip on my own is slim, ya know?
  1. Which of the four seasons best suits your personality?
Summer for sure! I hate the cold and love living in Florida where I can wear flip flops year round, go swimming on Christmas day, and walk the beach any day I want!
  1. Five Items you would buy with a million dollars.
First, I would pay off my student loans. 2) Pay off my house and car, 3) secure a college fund for soon-to-be-born baby girl, 4) take my whole family on a cruise, and 5) maybe splurge and get a few new handbags. And shoes. Yes, definitely shoes!

Some Writing Questions:
  1. Describe your ideal writing space.
I have to write in complete silence, so my ideal writing space would be soundproofed, have a great view of the ocean for when I need to daydream for a bit, and be supplied with lots and lots of coffee and chocolate!

  1. How has your writing career changed in the past year?
This past year has been a whirlwind experience for me. In April we found out that we’re expecting our first child, so everything either got pushed back, bumped up, or shoved aside. I had to take a hard look at my schedule and my works-in-progress, and see what I could do before the baby comes in December.

Two of the highlights of this past year have been signing with KP Simmon of InkSlinger PR as my publicist and signing with Louise Fury of The Bent Agency as my literary agent! Those two ladies are amazing, and I’m so lucky to be working with them!!

  1. What are your writing goals for the next year?
My writing goals for next year have again changed, because I’ll have a new baby! I have no idea how writing full time and being a full time mommy is going to work, but I’m going to try!

I currently have two novels in the works—a mature YA contemporary that I hope to have out in early 2014 and Fate of an Earth Angel, book 2 in my Earth Angel trilogy.

I also have high hopes to finish another YA contemp, start working on Avowed (James’ book in the Patronus series) and another idea that’s been pushing its way into my mind
  1. Name the five biggest distractions from your writing.
Five biggest distractions? 1) Social Media, 2) Social Media, 3) Social Media, 4) household things (laundry, dishes, errands, etc) and 5) needing to pee every 10 minutes since I’m pregnant!

18 year old Tessa Copeland barely survived the worst year of her life—in fact, it was a miracle. After making it through the tragedy that killed both of her parents, she’s left to pick up the pieces of her life. Combating the holes in her memory and the concern of her friends was hard enough, but a new talent threatens to destroy everything she’s trying to reclaim.

David Allegri didn’t mean to ruin Tessa’s life. She was the brightest soul he’d seen in centuries and he couldn’t let her die, so the fallen angel used his abilities to heal her—only he took it too far and changed Tessa forever. Now, he has to figure out a way to explain what’s happening to Tessa and somehow protect both of them from the consequences.

His choice made them targets for the Hunters, who will use any means necessary to capture their prey. Only a desperate plan can help them escape, and sacrifices will be made. Time is ticking. Will they make it, or will they be lost to the echoes of fate?
